STARS Support for NM School Districts

ORION Information Technologies is pleased to support the NMPED STARS project initiative. STARS is an NMPED data collection and data warehouse system that will provide more comprehensive and up-to-date information to decision-makers at the state and local level. STARS is the successor to the Accountability Data System (ADS) that was developed by ORION back in the 1997–98 timeframe.

We are currently supporting Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Central Consolidated School Districts in the data collection and submission efforts. ORION is willing and able to help other districts in meeting STARS submission requirements and creating custom reports on district information in the STARS data warehouse..

During the 2006-07 School Year Districts will need to create and submit 23 files (also referred to as templates) to NMPED on reporting dates (40th Day, 80th Day, 120th Day, Dec. 1, Jan. 15th and End of Year). The submission process will be through FTP and districts will be required to use the eScholar workflow manager to batch files for processing then analyze a series of eScholar and Cognos reports to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the data submitted. This is a significnat change from prior years and district need to be ready for it.
